For the Women: International Women’s Day

For the women who share their stories, we believe you.

For the women who connect us to our ancestors, we hear you.

For the women of the past whose names we’ve never known, we want to know who you are.

For the women whose names would be different had they held the power to name themselves, we want to see who you would be.

For the women who are honest, brave, and kind, we follow you.

For the women who embody justice and alleviate our pain, we need you.

For the women who celebrate other women, we breathe more deeply because of you.

For the women who give birth, we bow before you.

For the women who mother, we thank you.

For the women who say hard things, we listen to you.

For the women freedom fighters, we fight with you.

For the women saints, we worship with you.

For the women offenders, we understand you.

For the women, everywhere, we are here because of you.
