Samantha McCann is currently completing her M.Ed. in Human Development Counseling at Vanderbilt University with a concentration in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Prior to joining NCCC, she worked as an assistant guidance counselor at a K-8th grade school in Lawrence, MA and as a school counseling intern at various Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Samantha is passionate about helping youth, adolescents, and emerging adults discover and love who they are so that they can reach their full potential. Her goal is to provide a safe and accepting space for clients to be heard, affirmed, and encouraged to become active agents for change in their own lives. Utilizing a strength-based, non-judgmental, and culturally informed approach, Samantha hopes to foster self-esteem, confidence, and resilience in her clients, so they are empowered to use their unique talents and coping skills to navigate all of life’s ups and downs.
“I want my clients to feel valued, understood, and leave each session with hope for their future. Personal growth is always possible, no matter where you are starting from. EVERYONE deserves compassion and support no matter what, and I am honored to be a part of your mental health journey.”
Samantha believes food is a primary source of culture and connection. In her free time, she enjoys trying different coffee shops around Nashville, practicing new recipes, painting, and laughing with her friends and family.
